About May Rivers

May's Story

May Rivers is a UK-based novelist who writes emotionally rich stories about love, second chances, and the quiet courage it takes to reshape a life. Her fiction explores layered relationships, emotional turning points, and the unexpected ways art and heart intertwine.

A lifelong and happily compulsive reader, May has spent years letting her characters roam freely in her imagination. Now she is bringing them to life in her debut novel, Canvas of Destiny — and they’re already spilling over into the next books in the series.

"The first lesbian romance book I read was Radclyffe's 'Above All, Honor' (the first of the Honor series), and I was hooked. Over 250 books later, I decided to give my own imagination some airtime, which is a lot scarier than I thought it would be, but very exciting too!"

Tanner Newman has fought for everything she has. Rising from personal tragedy and abandonment to become a successful businesswoman and devoted guardian to her younger brother, she’s built a successful life from the ground up. Now, heartbroken and burned out, she returns to her hometown of Earlington, for a reunion with the theatre friends who once felt like her escape.

Melanie Campbell never left. She’s built a quiet, steady life running a busy town-centre pub and dating the man everyone says is perfect. But something in her heart doesn’t quite fit - something she can’t name, and certainly can’t share. With the pub’s future uncertain and questions she’s never dared ask bubbling to the surface, Mel feels her world shifting.

When Tan and Mel reconnect, the past stirs with unexpected intensity. Old friendships are rekindled - but so is something deeper, something neither of them expected. As walls come down and sparks fly, they must decide if they're ready to risk everything for a love that could finally feel like home.
